The Infamous Amoeba Leathers

Filed under: General, Road Racing — admin @ 5:27 pm

Tripp Nobles racing to victory in a WERA Pro 600 Superstock race sometime in the late 1980s or early ‘90s. The amoeba leathers, as Nobles called them, were all the rage at that time. It’s easy to make fun of Nobles now (and I have) for sporting the amoeba leathers, but he was no where near the only rider who wore them. If you remember other riders who wore these fashion statements please leave a comment to reveal their identities. If you wore them go ahead and fess up.

The crazy leathers fortunately went the way of the mullet, but at least we still have photographic evidence to prove it when a rider tries to deny wearing them.

  1. The most famous wearer of those leathers has to be Carl Fogarty.I can’t say much,1991 would have meant a white, purple and pink Dainese suit whose large devil motif over the back just made me look like a speeding gay rights activist in hindsight.

Funny story. I think Brit Ray Stringer wore this same suit during the 1991 Match Races.
