A good payday via Yamaha and Suzuki contingency money was the prize and it brought out excellent club racers to Gateway International Raceway in June of 1986 for a WERA sprint racing event. This is the start of the B Production final. It shows Steve Landrey, on his Suzuki GSXR750, leading the pack into the first turn. Among those in the field are Ralph Johnston (No. 12 Yamaha FZ750), Terry Hampton (No. 43 Yamaha FZ750), Tim Morrissey (directly behind Johnston on a Suzuki), Mark Slavens (No. 156 Suzuki GSXR750), Bob Meurer on what might be a Suzuki RG500 two-stroke and Gene Burcham (No. 593), who I think was riding a Yamaha FZ600. It was a Yamaha day at Gateway with Johnston winning the race over runner up Hampton.
