AMA Superbike regular Tom Kipp being interviewed by Glenn Billings for Prime Sports Network after he won the $2000 bonus for being the first four-stoke finisher in the overall results at the season finale of the WERA Formula USA Series at Road Atlanta in November of 1991. Kipp was up against the Yamaha YZR500 GP bikes ridden by Rich Oliver and Robbie Petersen on the Marlboro Roberts squad. Kipp was impressed with the competition in F-USA. “I really thought I was going to come and clean house here,” Kipp admitted. “I had been watching the series and thought I might even be able to beat the GP bikes. I wasn’t so surprised at how fast those guys were, but I was surprised by guys like (Mike) Harth, (Kurt) Hall and (Chuck) Graves. These guys are really riding hard and I hadn’t given them credit for that.” Formula USA was the first motorcycle road race series to receive national TV coverage for its full season of races.
