Spectators who came to Mosport Park in June of 1990 expecting to see the fast and close racing that had become a trade mark of the World Superbike Series, didn’t leave disappointed. The estimated 35,000 vocal Canadian fans witnessed some of the most spectacular racing the sport had to offer. Frenchman Raymond Roche had a highly successful weekend. The then 33-year-old factory Ducati-mounted Frenchman took the championship points lead by winning both legs of the Canadian round of the Diesel Jeans World Superbike Championship. American Jamie James made an impressive World Superbike debut by finishing second in both legs on his Fast by Ferracci Ducati. Fabrizio Pirovano was the third overall finisher. The diminutive Italian rider rode his Yamaha OW01 to fifth and third place finishes. Other American racers who made the Mosport race included Tom Kipp, Jimmy Adamo and David Kieffer. Kipp did well on his Wiseco Yamaha FZR750RR, finishing 14th place in both legs.
