(News Release)

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) announced today the schedule for the 2011 AMA Racing Rekluse National Enduro Championship Series, presented by Moose Racing. The 2011 season will feature 10 rounds of premier off-road racing and showcase a range of skill-, age- and displacement-based classes.

“The AMA Racing Rekluse National Enduro Championship Series, presented by Moose Racing, is coming off another strong season in 2010,” said AMA Director of Racing Joe Bromley. “Working with the National Enduro Promotions Group (NEPG), we’ve made some key improvements to the series that have led to some of the highest participation in the history of the championship. We’re looking forward to more improvement in 2011.”

The AMA Racing National Enduro Championship dates to the founding of the AMA in 1924. It is one of the longest-running national motorsports championships in the world and today is one of the premier off-road racing series in the country. It is designed to provide a competitive landscape for all levels of riders, from amateur competitors to the country’s fastest enduro racers.

“The NEPG would like to give our thanks to all of the clubs that have hosted an AMA Rekluse National Enduro,” said the NEPG’s Alan Randt. “The success of the series would not be possible without their hard work and dedication to the sport. We would also like to welcome five new clubs to the 2011 series, two of which are hosting their first ever National.”

Although each year features historical favorites, such as the Jack Pine Enduro in Moorestown, Mich., the AMA Racing National Enduro Championship Series often races in new locations each year. The new venues on the 2011 schedule include Salley, S.C.; Forest Hill, La.; Bismark, Ark.; Cross Fork, Pa.; and Chandlersville, Ohio. The new clubs are Ohio’s Zanesville Trail Riders and the Arkansas Dirt Riders.

This year’s championship will begin on Feb. 27 in Salley, S.C. The 10-round championship will wrap on Oct. 1 in Matthews, Ind. The full schedule is below. For updates, see AMARacing.com and NationalEnduro.com.

Danny Eslick will again race the GEICO Powersports RMR Suzuki GSX-R600 in 2011.

Danny Eslick will again race the GEICO Powersports RMR Suzuki GSX-R600 in 2011.

“I’m excited to be working with my same team and crew again next year,” said Eslick. “Richie (Morris) has been great and I really want to ride the new 2011 GSX-R600, too. It sounds and looks like a great bike and certainly has a lot of potential. We’ve had a super run so far and hopefully we’ll be able to continue our momentum and do well again next year. This season we had a fantastic year defending the championship but came up just short against some great riders and teams. It was a blast with a lot of good battles on the track, but we’re looking to get the job done and win back the number one plate again. My career really took off when I joined the team and that was a big part of my decision to stay. It’s been a big step forward for me and we’ll continue to work together and build on the experience we’ve gained. One thing I know is that when I show up at the track, my guys have taken care of everything and that it’s up to me to go for it.”

Eslick, 24 years old, has become one of the brightest stars in the series the past two seasons. Joining forces with Richie Morris Racing and GEICO Powersports for 2009, the grouping instantly showed results, immediately winning races and taking the series title. Winning nine races over the past two seasons, Eslick finished a close second during his impressive 2010 title defense in which he finished in the top five in 17 of 18 races on his GEICO and Lucas Oil-sponsored machine. In a class with widely varied machinery and as many as 10 riders battling at the front in some races, the Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, native finished no worse than seventh in any 2010 race in a remarkably consistent season.

To go along with the stellar results, Eslick’s aggressive, flat-track inspired style has been a hit with fans all over the country. The young, charismatic racer has been a popular paddock personality and become one of the marquee riders of the series.

“I think we’ve got a good thing going for next season with the same sponsor, team, and rider, along with a new and improved bike,” said team owner Richie Morris. “Danny has always had the talent and I think we just have a package that works. There are a lot of good riders and teams returning next year so it should be a dogfight up front in AMA Pro Daytona SportBike. Stay tuned!”

GEICO Powersports RMR Suzuki is sponsored by GEICO Powersports, Lucas Oil, Suzuki, Millennium Technologies, Vortex Sprockets, EBC Brakes, and Pilot.

Greg Schnell was a leading 125 class motocross and Supercross rider of the early-to-mid 2000s. Here he’s caught in action at the 2004 Washougal 125cc National aboard the Amsoil/Chaparral/Factory Connection Honda CR250F. Schnell had an outstanding outing at Washougal that year, finishing fourth overall and earning second to James Stewart in the second moto. It marked Schnell’s best outdoor national finish that year and matched his career best. Today Schnell is retired from full-time racing and trains young up-and-coming riders. He was recently featured in MTV’s reality show “Made”.
