Jamie James speeds down a straighaway at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course during an AMA Pro Twins (Battle of the Twins)race en route to winning there in 1990. This was just before Ducati became a huge hit in AMA Superbike racing with its Ducati 888 in 1991 with Doug Polen. In ‘90 Ferracci was still working out the bugs with the Ducati Superbike and James raced the 851 in the Pro Twins class for extra testing. James ended up winning all but two rounds that season, taking the championship by three points over Jimmy Adamo. Jamie, coming off his AMA Superbike season in 1989, had some Superbike podium finishes on the 851, including at Mid-Ohio, but the consistency was not there and he finished ninth in that championship.
