Tony Rauseo vs. Doug Whelan vs. Kevin Blais

Tony Rauseo (367) on his VIP Cycle and Sport Honda VFR750 battles Doug Whelan (310) aboard the KK Motorcycle Supply/Woody Kyle Racing Yamaha FZR750 in the Road Atlanta AMA Superbike race in 1987. Kevin Blais can also be seen on his Palmetto Kawasaki backed 750 Ninja.

Today Rauseo has a motorcycle shop www.rauseocycles.com,  Whelan is a sales manager for an electric scooter company www.vectrix.com, and Blais runs a motorcycle performance shop in Miami www.blaiscycle.com.

When teammates Scott Russell and Jamie James crashed their Yoshimura Suzukis together in the AMA Superbike race at Road America in 1989, it opened the way for one of the biggest surprise podiums in the championship’s history. Rich Arnaiz took the victory, one of the few privateers ever to win an AMA Superbike race, while two other privateers, young Floridians Jeff Farmer (second place) and Donald Jacks (third place) rounded out the podium finishers. It marked the best AMA Superbike result for all three riders.
