Hey Larry, you ever check out Meadowdale in Illinois? It closed back in the late 60’s, but most of the track is still there, used as a Park District trail. Definitely the wildest track I’ve ever seen. I can’t believe they raced bikes on that track. Safety was definitely the last thing on their mind when they laid it out, but it sure was cool.

  3. admin says:

    Kevin

Yes I’ve been to the site of Meadowdale and did a story on the track recently for Cycle News.

They used to have a big banked turn called the Monza Turn and it was the first high-baked course AMA national road racers ever raced on.

    Thanks
    Larry

  4. Mike Lynch says:

Larry,I spoke with Doug Showler today and he told me the 250 event at Nelson Ledges was the only 250 National stand alone event ever held. Awesome website!
